Will the looters try to sabotage Anna Hazare’s fast

Anna Hazare’s proposed fast for the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill is stated to commence on 16th August; subject to Government approval.
I think that either the Americans know or suspect that something fishy is going on behind the scenes to sabotage Anna Hazares’s fast. They probably don’t rule out the brutal use of force on some pretext or the other as was the case with the Baba Ramdev agitation against Corruption in India was brutalized.
During the course of her daily briefings, when asked the question with reference to the proposed fast by Anna Hazare ” Demonstration going on in India and police brutality against the people who are having peaceful demonstrations against corruption”
U.S. State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland replied “As you know, we support the right of peaceful, non-violent protest around the world. That said, India is a democracy and we count on India to exercise appropriate democratic restraint in the way it deals with peaceful protest.”
Taking strong exception to the above official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs commented “We have seen the needless comments by the U.S. State Department Spokesperson on handling of peaceful protests in India. Freedoms of speech and expression, as well as, of peaceful assembly, are enshrined in the Constitution of India and exercised by citizens of this country of 1.2 billion people”
The Indian spokesperson was doing his job and rightly so. However the Indian Government can’t expect civilized society to remain silent when it adopts such blatant, brutal and mischievous measures against its own people.
This should be an eye-opener to the looters that the world is looking at them with great interest. One can expect more civilized voices to follow the American example.
