The bible mentions the word Gentile(s) 131 times. In almost every verse, the Gentiles are described as being different than the Jews. I can easily answer the above question regarding what is ‘so polarizing’ about this proof! There are several reasons that are clear:

Goliath is a giant that appears post flood. So can you show in the Bible that Goliath is a descendant of Ham?
To me, the more believable scenario would have been the discovery of this secret knowledge after the flood. Suggesting that one of the wife’s of Noah’s sons had Nephilim blood seems to be an over-analysis of the Scripture. If this were the case, then YHWH Elohim performed His most remarkable act of kindness on this hybrid by allowing her survive the Deluge. If the whole purpose for the Flood was to get rid of the Nephilim, why would He have allowed one to stay?
Consider Egyptian mythology when Isis tricked Ra in to revealing his name. As we all know, the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus parallels the story of Nimrod, Semiramis, and Tammuz. The common theme in many of the stories that parallel this account is that secret knowledge was stolen or discovered, not inherited. I believe that this is nothing more than the classic example of information falling into the wrong hands. So if Nimrod ‘began’ to be a mighty one, what would make this so special if there were already Nephilim running around everywhere. There is nothing in the Bible to indicate that the Nephilim originated anywhere outside of this genealogy after the flood. We can speculate on the genetic composition of those on the Arc but that would seem to contradict YHWH Elohim’s handling of these creatures throughout the entire written Word.

What is missing here is someone to tie in all of the GIANT stories with the specific bloodline. IT IS THE HAM BLOODLINE. This is why the lineage is so specific in the bible. It needed to show this. We don’t know exactly how the Nephilim came into being after the flood but we can assume that it was somehow related to the Biblical character, Nimrod, when he ‘began’ to be a mighty one in the earth. In other words, he wasn’t born that way.
