“Never believe anything until it has been officially denied.”
Claud Cockburn
If my memory serves me correctly, it was in the Easter edition of L’Osservatore Romano of 1991 (or, perhaps, 1990) which included the official denial by the Roman church that “the resurrection” is a Doctrine of ‘Rebirth’.
In that issue of the official mouthpiece of the Vatican, the Revelation of “the resurrection”—remember, according to Jesus (but who cares what Jesus said?), the “children of the resurrection are the sons of God” (Chapter 20, verse 36 of the Gospel of Luke)—was asserted to be, instead, evidence of “demon possession”.
In other words, the very Revelation by which a person becomes a “son of God”—a Revelation which is also figuratively described in Chapter 27, verses 52-53 of the Gospel of Matthew—is officially recognized by the Roman church as a ‘work of Satan’…
Which, of course, is precisely the same accusation leveled by the Sadducees and Pharisees against Jesus.

Rebirth as in baptism originates from the mystery cults that date back to prehistory. It is an age old ceremony practiced by most pagan cults in one form or another as a symbolic means of killing the old you so the new you can emerge. It has nothing to do with the literal interpretation in it’s dark age plagiarism, by subsequent semi illiterate lesser minds.
