Christians Struggle to Maintain Legacy versus ISIS

Archbishop of Mosul Amel Nona

Archbishop of Mosul Amel Nona; “all Christians have left Mosul“!

From the beginning we were there; as the Kurds of Syria stood against ISIS, they did so with little help until the US bombing, the FSA, Peshmerga, and even Christians came to stand and fight alongside the Kurds at Kobani.  At that time, ISIS had already made incursions into Iraq.  It was at Mosul, however; just on place of many where ancient lines of ethnicity were broken. Assyrian Christians whose lines went back in the area 4500 years were suddenly gone.

ISIS went through the city and surrounding area’s like a hot knife through butter with the Iraqi army leaving in terror. Witnesses say they tore off their uniforms and ran away into the desert; some in only their underclothes. So much for protection, with that gone; thousands upon thousands of Christians from Mosul and other areas streamed north. Along with them were some other minorities and also the Yazidis who managed to get out alive also went north. In the north was the Peshmerga, Kurdistan region where the region of safety lay. The Kurds in this area of Iraq let the refugees in and then began to stand against ISIS as they drew near. All this is history now, but the true devastation is yet to be truly known.

No doubt that before the US invaded Iraq and overthrew Sadaam; there were many Christians in Iraq. They lived, had

homes, jobs, and relative safety. They had churches and were connected to the land and to their faith. Yet overtime, it took a toil and today you will find some 84 to 90% less Christians in Iraq than before the invasion and subsequent ISIS invasion as well.

There are organizations like ‘Rescue Christians‘ whose goal is to help Christians in persecuted areas and remove them to a safe place. Below is a video by Rescue Christians, we urge you as a Believer in Jesus Christ to pray for and to help the brethren by supporting such work as this. There are others in the area of Iraq and other areas of the world. This is a general promotion video showing what they do and how they do it!

WIBR/WARN Radio Commentary on Iraq Christian community and supporting the Brethren in Iraq and other areas of the world

Amid the ISIS assault on Iraq, minorities have borne the brunt. One of those groups is Iraq”s Christians, who before the 2003 US invasion were spread throughout the country with a sizeable community in the northwest. The majority of Iraqi Christians come from the Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean churches with affiliations mainly to the Catholic Church…

WIBR/WARN Radio is an endtime, preaching, teaching, and warning agency heralding in the second coming of Jesus Christ to this earth. We publish this information for the Believers in Christ Jesus to pray, be informed, support, and help those brethren in Christ overseas who are persecuted. We also recommend you support those agencies who directly work and or support these persecuted believers.
