Among the items found underwater at the underwater Heraclion site were some which resembled melted 24 carat gold lumps which had formerly been objects.
The coins and other objects found still intact (not many) which migth have been added later when boats sunk, but there are artifacts which are melted gold! Interestingly, the giant sculptures being found are mostly made of granite.
The melting temperature of dry granite at ambient pressure is 1215–1260 °C (2219–2300 °F). This causes one to wonder what extreme temperature was required to do this to the gold? A minimum temperature of 1,064 °C is the melting point of gold.
Wonder is there is a possible connection between the Libian desert glass and the Heraclion site, sunken underwater, and the melted objects being discovered there? The answer is yes!
