Hurricane Katrina and Typhoon Soudelor Predictions on National Radio Strongest storm on the planet – Typhoon Soudelor, which this week became the strongest storm on the planet so far this year, is expected to slam into Taiwan’s eastern coast at around 8 a.m. local time (8 p.m. ET) Saturday, bringing fierce winds and torrential rain.

The storm sustained winds when it makes landfall are still forecast to be around 200 kph (125 mph), the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane.
