The prophecies regarding Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, are revealed to His Elect in the New Testament Covenant, so that all are without an excuse.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament - Sent by the Father and born of a Virgin.

One of the many names given to Jesus Christ in the Old Testament is Immanuel the Mighty God.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel (Gen 3:15).

Gal 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

The Glory given to Jesus Christ in the Old Testament is very difficult to dismiss.

Rev 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).

Immanuel God with us, Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, a name above all names.

Luke 1:26-33 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,  To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.  And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:  And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament -The promises were made to Abraham and to thy seed, which is Christ.

Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him (Gen 18:18 ).

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed (Gen 12:3).

For an article on the lineage of the blessing of Abraham click here.

Matt 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

This blessing was to Abraham, not modern day Israel! Mathew speaks of the generations that start with Abraham, continue through David and end with Christ. The blessings of Abraham come on all that have faith in Christ. The reason for this is that the promises were made to Abraham and his seed, which is Christ (Gal 3:14-16).

Romans 4:13-14 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

Christ’s birthplace foretold – Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (Micah 5:2).

Matt 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Christ would Prophesize - Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken (Deut 18:15).

Jesus was in the world that was made by him, and yet the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and they received him not (John 1:10-11).

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him (Deut 18:18).

John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

Acts 3:22-23 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament – A new Priesthood

The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek (Psalms 110:4).

Heb 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Heb 7:11-17 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?  For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament – His rejection foretold - brought as a lamb to the slaughter

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth (Isaiah 53:2-9).

All that have the Spirit of Christ in their hearts are considered His children, and the inheritance of the kingdom of God is only possible through Him (Gal 4:6-7).

John 1:10-14 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The redeemed of the Lord, are those who Christ has delivered from the power of death. When Christ returns to reign in mount Zion, our redemption in Him will be complete. When we see the Great Tribulation events start to unfold, we are told to look for His return, as our Redemption is at hand (Luke 21:28). The redeemed of the Lord will receive the promise of  Salvation, which occurs at His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

  • God brings vengeance and Salvation (Isa 35:4).
  • God promise to Israel was realized in Jesus (Acts 13:23; Rom 9:8; Gal 3:14-16).
  • All of the faithful under the first covenant, also partake in the eternal inheritance through Christ (Heb 9:15).

Isaiah 62:11-12 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.  And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament – He takes away the sins of the world

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors (Isaiah 53:11-12).

Mic 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

Jesus Christ Is The Shepherd And Overseer Of Our Souls, He is also the light of the world and has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Those that follow Him in Spirit and in Truth, shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (1 Peter 2:25; John 8:12; John 4:23).

Mark 15:27-28 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

The truths contained in the Word of God are spiritually discerned, they are revealed to the Faithful follower by the Holy Spirit, enabling us to hear, understand and obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (Heb 5:9; 2 Thes 1:5-8).

Isa 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament – by whom mankind can be Saved

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass (Zech 9:9).

If you are a Christian or attempting to follow Christ, and want answers related to the End of Days or the Great Tribulation, there is one key aspect to obtaining this knowledge that can not be acquired any other way.

 Assurance Of Salvation

That which is born of the flesh is of the flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is of the spirit.

Unless you are Born again you can not have a true knowledge of the Kingdom of God; we can have Assurance of Salvation by no other means.

Being born again and receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit are one in the same. Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-8).

The greatest tragedy is believing you are Born again without ever experiencing the true indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This lie is an empty promise that leads to death and destruction, as the ability to truly understand Christ and His life changing testimony is impossible without His Spirit (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13; Eph 1:13).

Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him (Isaiah 62:11).

John 12:12-15 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament – The Light of the World – The Prince of Peace

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shine (Isaiah 9:2)

But we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a holy nation. We are a peculiar people; that we should show forth the praises of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. In time past we were not a people, but now we are  the people of God, which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10).

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Matt 4:16-17 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament –  would bring a New covenant for all of Mankind

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah (Jer 31:31).

The Old Testament law is fulfilled as they come to pass in the New Testament revelations.

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD (Jer 31:32).

The Old Testament Law of Moses, written on tablets of stone, was given unto Israel after the flesh. These people continuously rejected God the Father and served many strange gods, only a remnant sought God through faith.

Jer 31:33 But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The second covenant was the Law of Christ written in the hearts of men, Israel after the Spirit. This passage refers to the whole house of Israel. All of mankind can now believe in Christ and serve Him in newness of Spirit through faith, hope and love. Everyone that trusts in the cross of Christ is counted as the Israel of God.

Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart [is] my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of them (Isa 51:7).

The New Covenant, spoken of by Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, would be available to all that would call on his name in truth with a real faith.

Mark 2:21-22 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

It is impossible to mix the New Testament Covenant that has the saving blood of Christ, with the Old Testament Law that did not, they simply do not agree with each other. Putting new wine into an old bottle will cause both to perish, because the old bottle is not designed for the new. Under the Old Testament Law there was a temple that God’s Spirit dwelled in, under the new law of Christ we are the temple that he dwells in (1 Cor 3:16-17; 1 Cor 6:19).

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

The new law of Christ is not only better, it also happens to be the only choice available, as the old has passed away. Any man in Christ is a new creation and all things have become new. The new bottle refers to the vessel unto honor that we purge from iniquity as is required for the Holy Spirit to reside in. Old things or events of the past such as the old law are passed away (2 Cor 5:17; 2 Tim 2:21).

John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now

Jesus Christ has brought forth the good or new wine which is the new covenant, last. The first wine which was the old covenant was not nearly as good. Also the first was fulfilled or completed in him on the Cross, and has vanished.

Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Without the hearing of faith, the spirit that He sent would not be received.  It is the infilling of the spirit of Christ that allows us to understand His word. To operate in the flesh with self-righteousness is unto dead works.

Gal 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

All who share in the faith of Abraham now are of one family. This faith was not in the letter of the law, but in the one who gave the law. All who serve God in faith are counted as children of Abraham.

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.

Christ, on the cross abolished the law of commandments and the ordinances. As a result he made it possible for all to be of the commonwealth of Israel.

Romans 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Those that live for the flesh care for the things of the flesh. It is our carnal nature that leads to death as it is a separation from God. When we live in the Spirit, the righteousness of the law of liberty in Christ may be fulfilled. Those that stand in the liberty of the new law of Christ are never to entangle themselves with the Old Testament law of bondage (Gal 5:1).

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament will return a second time as Judge and Lord – He will also gather His true Israel

Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

  • Psalms 37:6-13
  • The Lord God shall bring forth righteousness as the light, and judgment…
  • Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him
  • Do not fret because of those who accomplish wickedness
  • Cease from anger, and forsake wrath and evil
  • For the evildoers will be cut off
  • But those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth
  • The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight in great peace
  • The wicked plotteth against the just
  • Adonai laughs at the wicked: for he sees their day is coming.

The Lord Jesus, our Adonai will reward the wicked at His return. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord.

Adonai, does not sit at the right hand of God, He is the right hand, or power of God.

He will shatter the power of the kings of the earth, during the day of his wrath, and the Thousand Year Reign of Christ will begin (Psalms 110:5).

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them (Isaiah 11:6).

There will no longer be evil or corruption in the holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (Isaiah 11:9).

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord (Adonai) shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea (Isaiah 11:11).

At the onset of the Thousand Year Reign of Christ, Jesus will swallow up death in victory. Our Lord Adonai, will wipe away the tears of His people. And it shall be said in that day, this is our God (Elohim) we have waited for our Savior. This is the Lord Jehovah whom we have waited for; we will be glad and rejoice in His Salvation (Isaiah 25:8-9).

Jer 32:17 Ah Lord (Adonai) GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

Jesus Christ in the Old Testament

Rev 19:15-16 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

  • Hey retard. Try reading your bible again, nowhere in the new testament does anyone refer to Jesus as Immanuel, so that’s out. Bethlehem Nephtah is definitely the name of a peson, and not a place, so that is questionable at best. Ooh, a prophet chosen by god? Yeah, there weren’t any of those in the babble prior to Jesus. And you’re way off fucking base with the Isaiah quote; first off, the word “virgin” is at best an accidental mistranslation. It would be more accurate to translate the word almah as “young woman.” And the context makes it plain that it’s meant as a sign for one specific individual, the king being addressed.
