The 144,000 That Are Sealed – A Prophecy Not Understood by Many?
To be sealed with the Holy Spirit, is not something that is unique to the 144,000 that are mentioned in the book of Revelations. All of the Elect who are in Christ are sealed or set apart unto Him. The final book of the Bible comes with a warning that is quite serious, and yet it is all but ignored by the false teachers in the church that simply exploit the Word of God for their personal gain.
Rev 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Sealed With The Holy Spirit Unto Salvation
Christ warned us that many would come and use His name claiming to be of Him; these impostors would deceive many (Math 24:5).
You shall know them by their vain or empty words, as they preach a power point sermon about a Christ they do not have a relationship with.
Titus 1:14-16 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Today we not only have Jewish fables to contend with, but now we have Judeo-Christian ones as well. One that is quite outrageous is that the church will be raptured away, and yet many come to be saved through the 144,000 of the twelve tribes of Israel that are left behind.
It is taught that these are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, to witness to the world, and that the Great Tribulation is a time for Israel to come to salvation, as all the Christians are raptured away. Below are the facts that prove this theory to also be false, as well as the relevant verses that refer to those that are sealed.
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
All those in Christ are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Also God does the sealing so the words we have, can be ignored.
The correct meaning for the words we have sealed, is those (G 3739). The destruction is not to occur until those who are to be sealed are indeed sealed.
Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
The same word for seal that is used in reference to that of the Living God is also used in 2 Tim 2:19. The foundation of God stands solid, having this seal, The Lord knows all those that are his people.

There is nothing to suggest that the 144,000 who are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, are on earth or that they witness to anyone.

In this verse the 144,000 are not mentioned, but we know that there are believers in Christ that are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, and thus protected from the Fifth Trumpet Judgment (Rev 9:1-11).
All of God’s Elect are Sealed With The Holy Spirit
The important thing to realize is that all of God’s Elect are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. This occurs when we are baptized in the Spirit; becoming a Born again follower of the Lord Jesus, is also a reference to this gift given to His Chosen.
Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
Jesus, who is The Lamb of God, stands upon Mount Zion with the 144,000 that are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. With reference to this group here in this chapter, there are two possible scenarios;
- If they are with Him in heaven they could not be witnesses to those on earth.
- If this is an earthly reference, Christ has returned and there is no longer time for witnessing.
Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
It should also be noted that the 144,000 are in fact redeemed from among men, and are the first fruits unto God. The word redeemed in this verse refers to a purchase. Jesus redeemed or bought us, with His shed blood that takes our sins away. This group also is said to be without fault before the throne of God. Compare the words first fruits and redemption in the verse below for context.
Romans 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
This group, the 144,000 who are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise are referred to as the Children of Israel. The word child can also mean son. He that endures until the end shall be saved, and to those that overcome the world and all of the deception in it, they shall be called the sons of God (Rev 21:7).
Those in Christ Jesus that are led by the Spirit of God, are the Sons of God (Rom 8:14). We are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, in order that we may have fellowship with Christ through the Spirit (1 Cor 1:9; Eph 3:5-12; Phl 2:1).

Sorry Bro but you have it all out of context. The 144,000 are from the tribes of Israel. We may have lost count of who is who, but God hasn’t. Secondly, the Bible clearly proves that the resurrection/rapture happen as one event at the beginning of the Tribulation as stated in in Rev 6:17. I always enjoy reading your contributions since I’ve noticed that whatever the topic or article your remarks are always consistent and ring true. I have some questions for you and hope you have the time to respond. I am reading the bible for the first time and am about a third of the way through (currently 1 Chronicles Chapter 8) but I have been exposed to all the apocalyptic ‘stuff’ (ie. Daniel, Isaiah, Revelations etc) from exposure to BIN and would like to have your thoughts on the following questions if you have the time. Except for the KJV, I’ve never read the final chapters of a book before starting to read it from the beginning before but the bible seems to be the exception to every rule! My questions for your considersation: Does the Holy Spirit of Promise seal only those who are one of the 144,000? In other words, can a person be sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise but not be one of the 144,000? Is 144,000 the TOTAL number of people who will be saved from the fire come Judgement Day or can 100 million be saved (for example) with the 144,000 being a sub-set of this 100 million (or whatever the final number of people to be saved from all humans who have ever lived is)? Finally, if the 144,000 are a sub-set of a greater number of people to be saved, what distinguishes them from the rest? I recently came to the conclusion that there will be no pre-tribulation rapture and if a rapture does occur it will happen at the end of the Tribulation after Christ returns and after the dead in Christ are resurrected. I think that the rapture event may be a misreading/misleading/misinterpretation of the process of the Elect getting new bodies after surviving the Tribulation and the dead have been resurrected. I think you may agree with me that no-one goes to heaven (where is the scripture that says we do? Meeting Christ in the air when he comes down with the Angelic Host doesn’t mean we go to heaven and get our new bodies, then we come back to Earth to live with Christ in the Millennial Kingdom. I think all this will happen to the Elect with the exception of visiting heaven for a body upgrade). Thank you for your input into BIN and I hope you gift me with your wisdom on the above questions. Anyone can use the Bible to support an opinion which is much different than asking the Holy Spirit to teach us the Word of God so that we can understand it. Sealed With The Holy Spirit
Christ returns with rewards for all of the elect who are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who will look upon Him with great admiration. However in 2 Thes:8-9, the vengeance and punishment reserved for those that do not know or obey Him is vividly described. This speaks of His second coming as a judge and redeemer and again a secret rapture is not implied.

What does “… immediately AFTER the Tribulation…” mean?

The original for v29 is ..after the suffering of those days…it does not mean the tribulation which is described as the trumpet and bowl judgments of Revelations. V30 tells us that this happens at the 3rd coming of Jesus. This is when he arrives to set up his kingdom on earth as per Rev 19. At his 2nd coming (the res/rap which happens at the beginning of the tribulation) it’s like lightning flashing across the sky v27. At his 3rd coming the people of earth will see him coming on the clouds of the sky so it is two separate events. At that time he will send his angels to gather not only his elect, but all nations as per Matthew 25 and he will separate the sheep from the goats. (3) THE FEW CHOSEN: Those saints who were alive in group #2 who are now physically dead. They died “faithful” these are the FEW that were chosen faithful…….Rev 3:5. ……; and I
will not BLOT OUT HIS NAME OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE, (Ps 69:28) …. These are the FEW that are CHOSEN and now that they have died and are saved then “once saved THEY CAN NEVER BE LOST”
