Earlier this week, I blogged about the Electrify Africa Act which, in addition to sending taxpayer money overseas to finance Africa “electrification” projects for the benefit of the large corporations which finance, build, and profit from these projects, reauthorizes one of the US Government’s biggest corporate slush funds: the Overseas Private Investment Corporations (OPIC). Yesterday, the House passed by the bill by a vote of 297-117. Even though the majority of Republicans voted against the bill, House Republican leader Eric Cantor sent out a tweet celebrating the House passage of this unconstitutional, anti-market, pro-corporate welfare bill.
