House Members Ask Senate for Stronger NSA Reform
A bipartisan group of 58 House members penned a letter to the Senate after the House passed the USA Freedom Act, urging the Senate to reject the bill in its current form because the legislation did not go far enough in limiting the NSA’s ability to spy on innocent Americans. The letter reads in part:
On May 13, 2015, the USA FREEDOM Act of 2015 (H.R. 2048) passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 338 to 88. We, the undersigned representatives, opposed the measure because its reforms do not adequately or appropriately reform surveillance practices or address privacy concerns.”
Campaign for Liberty agrees that the USA Freedom Act, in its current form, does not limit the NSA’s ability to collect bulk data on innocent Americans. Now that this measure is before the Senate, is vital that your Senators hear from you that you oppose any legislation, including the USA Freedom Act, that allows the government to collect bulk data on innocent Americans.
