(Before It's News)

Freshman Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) is circulating a letter  to House Speaker John Boehner asking that the House leadership  fulfill their promise to the American people by using the reconciliation process to repeal Obamacare. Under Senate rules, reconciliation legislation cannot be filibustered, thus it only requires a simple majority vote. While it is highly unlikely that the legislation will have the votes to overturn an inevitable presidential veto, passing Obamacare repeal through the House and Senate and sending it to Obama’s  desk will be a major step toward repealing this law. Campaign for Liberty members who want to see Obama and his congressional allies forced to defend this disastrous law should call their Representative and ask them to cosign Representative Walker’s letter asking the House leadership to fulfill their promise to use reconciliation to repeal Obamacare. Here is the text of Representative Walker’s letter:

Dear Speaker Boehner, Last November, Republicans promised Americans that if given a majority in both chambers of Congress, they would fully repeal Obamacare and put such a bill on the President’s desk. The American people did their part, giving Republicans control over both the House and Senate and sweeping majorities in state houses and legislatures across the country. In an effort to gain support for the FY 2016 Budget Resolution in the House, promises and assurances were made by House Leadership that adoption of the resolution would result in the necessary tool for fulfilling this promise—budget reconciliation. As you know, budget reconciliation is a process that would allow for a simple majority vote in both chambers for fully repealing Obamacare, bypassing attempts from proponents of this disastrous law to block such a vote. Prior to the August recess, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made a similar public commitment with Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) to have a vote to fully repeal Obamacare through budget reconciliation. As Americans continue to languish under this law due to rising health care costs, skyrocketing premiums, and entitlements like Medicaid and Medicare driving roughly one-third of the projected spending increase over the next decade, using reconciliation to repeal the President’s health care law is critical. Therefore, we request that House Leadership direct the committees of jurisdiction to ‎report the repeal language to the Committee on the Budget and bring the reconciliation bill to fully repeal Obamacare for a vote before the end of the year. Millions of Americans continue to suffer under Obamacare. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to put an end to it. It’s time for Republicans to fulfill their promise to the American people.   Sincerely,
