Ending the Stigma Associated With HIV Dating

Positive Singles wants to end the stigma associated with HIV dating. After receiving a diagnosis of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) the dating scene becomes that much more complicated. Although an STD requires a certain level of honesty and openness when trying to find a potential mate, it is important to realize that HIV is not the death sentence it once was.

Thanks to many improvements within the world of medicine in treating the virus, many people who have an STD go on to live normal and healthy lives, complete with the benefit of an intimate relationship. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when dating with an STD:

Practice honesty: Whether a person discloses the information on the first date or after they realize the relationship has potential to grow, it is important that the STD is discussed prior to any sexual act.

Practice safe sex: There are many sexually transmitted diseases and it is important, as long as there is a positive status from either party, to practice safe sex. Using protection during all sexual contact is the best method to keep both partners protected.
