Big Cities Head for Water Crisis as Populations Explode. With more than half the world’s population now in cities, scientists warn that inadequate surface water supplies will leave many at increasing risk of drought.

 

Sardines swim into northern waters to keep cool. A staple of the Mediterranean diet is migrating north to escape warming seas – leaving fishermen with empty nets.

 

U.S. proposes first rules for Arctic oil, gas drilling. The Obama administration on Friday proposed standards on exploratory drilling for oil and gas in U.S. Arctic waters that would add costs for energy companies but aim to protect against catastrophic spills.
