Rise in Carbon Dioxide Could Restrict Growing Days for Crops. While plants in temperate zones may benefit from higher temperatures, global warming’s impact in the tropics threatens catastrophe for food security. Some regions could lose up to 200 growing days a year, and rising levels of carbon dioxide could also affect the quality of plant growth.

 

Beijing quadrupled in size in a decade. A new study by scientists using data from NASA’s QuikScat satellite have shown a novel technique to measure urban growth based on observed changes in physical infrastructure.
