2012 iPhone To Indeed Feature 3.95″ 640 x 1136 Display, Smaller Dock Connector.
We all know a new iPhone is coming this year. This is not news nor surprising (at least it shouldn’t be). But the specifics of the next-gen iPhone likely dropping this fall (October-ish) have remained unknown. The biggest object of contention is the display; will it get bigger or will Apple keep it 3.5″ in a time of 4.5″ giants?
According to a new post by 9to5 Mac citing there all-knowing sources, Apple will release a new iPhone this fall with a 3.95″ (diagonal), 640 x 1136 display.
The aspect ratio of the resolution above will give the new iPhone a near-16:9 aspect ratio meaning almost no black bars on widescreen content should be seen.
According to the same source(s), Apple is currently flogging two prototype next-gen iPhones (N41A/5,1 and N42AP/5,2) internally in ultra-thick cases designed to conceal the true form and design from the public.
Other tidbits to take away from 9to5′s info dump include:
- New iPhone will allow for 5th row of icons on homescreen
- Home button is still very much there
- Dock connector is a new, smaller evolution of Apple’s connector. “Not exactly pill shaped” and “somewhere between the size of a micro-USB and mini-USB connector”.
9to5 promises “much more” is “to come”. Excited? We are.
