EA recently announced third installment of its critically acclaimed first person shooter Crysis. It’s developed by the famed developer Crytek, known for their state of the art graphics engine, its named cryengine.
Crysis 3 is being developed using the latest version of cryengine. The game will once again feature prophet, although it’s unclear how prophet makes his return considering the events of Crysis 2, but rest assured all will be explained in coming months.
Crysis 3 will be set in New York, 20 years after the events of the previous game where New York has been transformed into an urban rainforest. Crytek has made some radical changes to the graphics; the environments look stunning and the attention to detail is staggering. Crytek has promised that there will be numerous environments to explore, in fact, it has been dubbed as the ultimate sandbox experience by the developers.
Besides having a wide variety of guns at their disposal players can now wield an awfully high tech bow which can be used as a stealth weapon. Players will be able to choose from a number of different types of arrows adding diversity to the gameplay, besides bow, you can now pickup and use alien weaponry as well.
The demo shown was running on a high-end PC but Crytek assures that they have optimized the game to look incredible on consoles as well; they even claim that through clever programming they have some DX11 features running on both Xbox 360 and PS3.
From the looks of it, Crytek is looking to blend the best features of the first 2 games to give us an ultimate eye meltingly beautiful and outstanding gaming experience in 2013.
