Facebook is expected to start its quest to send the first 3 billion notices to Facebook users regarding the proposed changes to the Facebook privacy policy. These changes came as a result of the recommendation from the Irish Data Protection Commissioner through its audit. This update in the privacy policy will contain 3 major clarifications of existing terms, but rather vague and unclear ones.
The first one is that Facebook will supply the users with a chart diagram that will show how does Facebook use cookies to improve the Facebook experience but will not be used to track their web activity or grabbing any information about them. The second one is a clarification that your data and information at Facebook will be used to give you ads outside Facebook while being on websites other than Facebook. The last one is that Facebook will supply its users with a very detailed explanation of cases in which Facebook will have the right to retain the user’s data as long as it needs to give you the services that you need.
The reason behind all of this is for Facebook to make it easy for its users to understand how and when their data and information is in use. This is why Facebook is planning to launch the Facebook Terms & Policies Hub in order to contain its ten policy agreements; this will include the redlined changes version accompanied by their explanation in order to shed more focus on them as the Data Use Policy.
Facebook is also planning to carry out a live Questions & Answers segment to speak and answer questions about these changes on the 14th of May, Facebook users will have exactly 7 days to give their opinion on these policy changes before they are implemented. Facebook is going to send notifications and alerts to users to check these changes since they are ready to be reviewed. They will be available to be reviewed on cell phones or computers alike. Facebook has also made various changes to the Data Use Policy and has highlighted important parts using bulbs.
