(Before It's News)

meme twitter accountsNot only is Twitter that amazing and huge microblogging service that will let you know when your friends have woke up in the morning and what they had for dinner, but it’s great for streaming clever and informative quotes. None so may be more popular than Twitter’s ongoing culture of parody accounts.

A parody account is a user playing the role of (usually) some celebrity or well-known figure, or even some ridiculous inanimate object, and tweeting from a usually-sarcastic point of view.

We’ve once before done an article covering some of these funniest parody accounts. Today, meme accounts are on a huge uptick. If you’re living under a rock and don’t know exactly know what a meme is, here is a good excerpt from Wikipedia:

Internet memes usually are formed from some social interaction (such as rage comic or reaction faces), pop culture reference (such as Pardon the Interruption’s Tony Kornheiser in WHY.jpg, Xzibit in “Yo Dawg”) or situations people often find themselves in (such as “That feeling when,” Socially Awkward Penguin, and Futurama Fry). Sometimes these categories cross over, as with Futurama Fry, and costanza.jpg, a popular reaction face of George Costanza from Seinfeld. Many memes also come from video games (such as the “arrow to the knee” from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or “do a barrel roll” from Starfox 64).

The idea is that some random meme master around the world takes up the responsibility of carrying out the personality of one of these meme characters through a Twitter feed. These accounts are hugely popular and new ones appear every day. Let’s look at some of the best.

Condescending Wonka

The meme that I personally hate the most happens to be one of the most popular. Follow along with more than 800,000 others as Mr. Wonka patronizes you and makes you question your own intelligence.

Good Guy Greg

Born over at Reddit, Greg has quickly become the Internet’s trademark good guy. Follow and see what Greg’s good deed of the day is.

“Y U NO” Guy

Follow this user on Twitter and enjoy the most timeless questions, in broken English.

Scumbag Steve

Although Scumbag Steve is molded after an actual person, one could argue that this meme persona is the funnier of the two.

The Most Interesting Man in the World

Everyone knows Don Equis from those commercials. He’s made a great meme of himself. Stay tweeting, my friends.

Overly Attached Girlfriend

OAG is a brand new meme and it’s become huge already. Popularized by a Justin Bieber fan video, it’s taken off from there.

Socially Awkward Penguin

I’ve unfortunately sympathized with a few of these.

Philosoraptor

Reconsider your everyday thoughts by following this meme.

Bad Luck Brian

Brian is always experiencing terrible and traumatic events. Follow through all of them on Twitter.

Anti-Joke Chicken

Sometimes, jokes are funnier the second time around.

Let me know which of these meme Twitter accounts is your favorite in the comments!
