Indian ecommerce market has registered a stellar growth. From $2.5 billion in 2009, it grew at an estimated 30% and is poised to be as big as $260 billion by 2025 according to the report, ‘E-commerce: A boon for the current economic downturn‘ by First Data Corporation and ICICI Merchant Services. The Indian online shopper is now confident enough to purchase stuff worth Rs. 25000 as compared to Rs. 2000 – 5000 in the recent past. Spending big bucks is not a problem but the mindset of the common man needs to be changed. There are players of all shapes and sizes, selling products of all quality and make.
From Flipkart, which raised revenue of 100 Crores in the recent past to WebEngage, the online feedback software service that started recently and registered break-even; how different market players have inputs of different sizes to create a certain market bubble, will shape the Indian ecommerce scenario.
To cash in to the short term forecasts of $1.6 billion and long term of $250 billion, Digitas India has launched a new ecommerce vertical for organizations that require and seek online branding. The company undertakes planning, creation, building and measuring and bridging communications and interactions essential to prosperity of an online brand. The Indian arm of the world´s leading digital marketing agency, Digitas India claims to have mastered the art of presentation. They say that the real deal lies in ’romancing’ the product or service undergoing the process of branding. Digitas claims that it presents in an interesting and exciting way which includes visual presentation, reviews, ratings, social connects and demonstrations that attracts attention.
Digitas plans to take the marketing expenditure estimation to be of utmost importance, which could be the USP of its service. Many Indian competitors of Digitas, like Ommune IT solutions, do not provide such services. With clients like Cisco, Microsoft and HP, Digitas plans to make it big in the Indian and Chinese market. This could be possible if they focus on their technology engine and effectively ‘romance’ the product as they promised.
