The HTC Flyer didn’t exactly become the runaway success that HTC had hoped. But that isn’t stopping them from trying their hand at the Android tablet scene again. Despite a new focus on Windows 8 tablet specific features, HTC is apparently still gung-ho about winning over the green army on the mid-range screen.
Phonearena was tipped about a new “Flyer 2″ that will pick up where the last first-gen Flyer left off. That said, don’t look for a fluffed out spec sheet. According to Phonearena’s source, HTC is going to a price/performance balance while also providing a superior design to consumers.
Specs for the Flyer 2 will allegedly look something like this:
The design HTC hints entails using the same gorgeous anodized aluminum that the One S is constructed out of and blowing it up to a 7″ tablet form factor. Somehow we don’t think any of you will have a problem with this, considering the One S is a hot phone itself.
Here’s to hoping the Flyer 2 can help HTC right their listing ship. A recent string of missed software deadlines and fragmented branding/availability across carriers following many quarters of abysmal hardware has caused the once great phone manufacturer to fall out of the running and into the hallway leading to irrelevance.
