iOS 6 Update Download For iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch Available Now
The day we have all been patiently waiting for since Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 is finally here. iOS 6 update download for supported iOS devices has now been made available to the public. Millions of iOS device owners around the world have been quite excited about this new update which comes with a plethora of new features. Without further ado, lets jump right in and show you how you can download iOS 6 update on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch right away.
Earlier this summer Apple unveiled iOS 6 to developers. This new update builds up superbly on the success of iOS 5, which happens to be the biggest iOS update ever since it had over 200 new features. iOS 6 is not that big an update, however its no slouch either. Massive system wide improvements have been made, apart from a couple of new apps.
iOS 6 brings Apple’s very own Maps application which has now replaced Google Maps on iOS. Apple has also removed the native YouTube app from iOS. The new Passbook app allows you to store all of your e-tickets and vouchers in one place. The new Maps application brings 3D maps for selected locations. Siri has gone through major improvements and so has the Notification Center. A new Do Not Disturb mode has been added as well. Slight changes have been made to the theme as well, something which was not updated in previous iOS updates. These are just some of the changes in iOS 6 and all of them have been very well received by iOS enthusiasts around the world.
Ever since Apple announced iOS 6, it has been in beta stage available only to registered Apple developers. The general public does not have access to beta firmware. Developers test various beta versions, develop their apps accordingly as well as report back to Apple with information on any bugs in the software. With the iOS 6 GM build being released last week and Apple confirming that iOS 6 public release would take place today, undoubtedly this new update has been awaited quite anxiously and now its finally here.
If you have a device running iOS 5 or up, you can get iOS 6 update download over the air. Fire up the Settings app, go to General and then tap on Software Update. Allow your device to automatically download and install iOS 6 firmware on your device. It will reboot once after the update has finished being installed, and then you’ll have a device running iOS 6. It’s as simply as that.
Alternatively you can also manually update your device to iOS 6. Download iTunes 10.7 for your Windows or Mac from Apple’s website. Then connect your device to the computer. iTunes will let you know that iOS 6 is available and you can authorize it to automatically download and install this iOS 6 update on your device. iTunes will do aforementioned task on its own and will let you know when your device has been successfully upgraded to iOS 6.
