Nokia has announced that it will be releasing its budget Lumia smartphone called Lumia 510 in India next month. The push towards budget smartphones in India and other emerging markets seems to be the strategy that Nokia has adopted to get people to use their phones and adopt the Windows Phone platform.
The 510 counts the 4 inch display, a 800 Mhz Snapdragon S1 processor and a 5 MP camera as its defining features. The phone runs on the Windows Phone 7.5 OS as of now. If you buy the phone you stand to get 7 GB of cloud storage on Skydrive. The phone comes in 5 ‘trendy’ colors.
And the price point? Nokia says that they intend to price it at approximately $199 ( Rs.10673). Nokia is calling it its ‘most affordable’ smartphone. These features are quite compelling at that price point and this might just work for Nokia. The phone is also going to be launched China, South America and Asia.
