Holiday Recipes:

Yams/Sweet potatoes

Boil yams until done, peel, quarter lengthwise when cooled enough. In large pan, add 1/2 stick of butter, 11/2 cup brown sugar, ½ cup water and splash of orange juice-bring to a boil. Add yams and keep turning over and over until syrup is thick and yams are hot. Optional-add mini-marshmallows on top and allow them to melt.

Wassail Punch

Recipe makes 12 servings

2 quarts apple cider

2 cups orange juice

1/2 cup lemon juice

12 whole cloves

4 cinnamon sticks

1 pinch ground ginger

1 pinch ground nutmeg

Directions

In a slow-cooker or a large pot over low heat, combine apple cider, orange juice and lemon juice. Season with cloves, ginger and nutmeg. Bring to a simmer. If using a slow cooker, allow to simmer all day. Serve hot


