Big Story Weather from November 29: High pressure along the East Coast kept a majority of the United States under partly cloudy skies and moderate temperatures. However the warm front pushed into the Northern Plains and brought some snow showers to North Dakota. Also the center of the low pushed into the Western Rockies and brought a warm rain to this region. The cold front extended over the West Coast and brought some very heavy rainfall and significant mountains snows.
Weather Outlook for November 30: High pressure near the Northeast will bring nice weather to the region. A weak and dry frontal boundary will push through the Midwest today; only a few showers around Chicago will be possible with this front. High pressure over the Southwest will make for nice weather in the region and this will extend into the Southern Rockies and Southern Plains. Another low pressure system will push across the Rockies and the Pacific Northwest today bringing more showers and mountain snows to the region. Below is the weather for a few select cities.

International Weather Outlook for November 30: High pressure moving into the Koreas will bring partly cloudy skies to the region and this will also extend eastward into Japan. High pressure over the Tibetan Plateau will bring partly cloudy skies to the region and will also decrease the monsoonal trough over Southeast Asia. High pressure over the Middle East will bring dry weather to the region. Low pressure over France and Germany will bring showers and higher elevation snows. Low pressure near England will also bring scattered showers. Low pressure to the west of the South America tip will bring increased clouds to the region. High pressure over the Northwest of Australia will bring partly cloudy skies to the region, while a frontal boundary will be moving south of the region bringing scattered clouds and showers to the southern part of Australia. Here is the forecast for a few select international cities.
Tokyo Japan: Partly Cloudy with a low near 5C.
Guam USA: Partly Cloudy with a low near 22C.
Manila Philippians: Partly Cloudy with a low near 23C.
Brussels Germany: Cloudy with showers and a low near 8C.
Brisbane Australia: Partly to Mostly Cloudy with a low near 20C.
November 30, 2012 Storm Tracker Update:
Atlantic Basin: Low pressure over Western Europe continues to bring heavy rain and mountain snows to the region. Another low pressure has developed off the West Coast of Africa which will bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Cape Verde Islands. Low pressure moving through Iceland will bring increased seas and snows to the region.
Eastern Pacific: Low pressure moving through Central America will continue to move slowly westward out over the open Pacific waters this weekend. Low pressure moving into Canada off the Pacific and its trailing cold front will bring showers to the Pacific Northwest along with mountain snows. A low pressure is beginning to push into the Southwestern Gulf of Alaska and will begin to impact the Alaskan coast through this weekend.
Western Pacific: A strong low pressure system is moving through Central Russia towards the Koreas and should begin to impact the region over the weekend. Low pressure to the southeast of Japan will continue to move eastward and have no impact to the region. Typhoon Bopha has intensified to now 65kts and a pressure of 974mb and will continue to track towards the Philippines over the next few days.
Indian Ocean: A tropical low has developed to the Southeast of India and right now has a moderate chance of developing into a tropical system as winds are currently around 25kts and a pressure of 1004mb.
Southern Hemisphere: A low pressure is pushing to the East of the tip of South America bringing with it a few showers to the eastern shores. Another low pressure is moving towards the southeast coast of Australia and its associated frontal boundary will bring showers back into the region.
Five Day Storm Index Outlook for November 30-December 4:
Pittsburgh PA: The period will start with no impacts, however a few showers will move into the area on the 2nd bringing the area under a slight impact and then again on the 4th a few showers will move through the region bringing the region back into slight impacts.
Dallas TX: A nice few days with high pressure will keep the region impact free until the 4th when the next frontal boundary moves in bringing thunderstorms to the area along with a slight impact.
Rapid City SD: High pressure over the region will keep it dry for the entire period and the impacts will be none for this time period.
Topeka KS: The period will start with no impacts and remain that way until the 3rd when an area of thunderstorms will move through the region bringing with it a slight chance of impacts to the area.
San Diego CA: The region will enjoy the next five days being impact free.
Climate Watch for November 25-29:
Pittsburgh PA: The period started with temps around 2-9 degrees below average followed by a small warm up around the 29th as temps rose to around 1 degree below average.
Dallas TX: The period started with temps around 12-14 degrees above average and then fell to around 8 degrees below average, but finished the period with temps around 4-6 degrees above average.
Rapid City SD: Temps started the period around 1-15 degrees below average followed by a warming trend as temps rose to around 4-7 degrees above average to finish the period out.
Topeka KS: The period started 9 degrees above average and then fell to around 4-5 degrees below average followed by another warm up with temps rising to around 8-16 degrees above average to finish the period.
San Diego CA: The period started with temps running about 1-6 degrees below average and then on the 29th temps rose to around 3 degrees above average to finish the period out.
Major Weather Impacts Discussion for November 29, 2012:
Day 1-3: High pressure moving into the Northeast will bring nice conditions to the region. The southeast and Gulf Coast will also enjoy nice weather today on the backside of the high. Look for a weak frontal boundary to move through the Great Lakes region bringing some showers to the region. High pressure over the Southwest will bring nice conditions to the region and another frontal boundary moving on shore over the West Coast will keep the region unsettled with showers and mountain snows. The period will finish with a frontal boundary extending through the Northeast bringing showers to the region and also another frontal boundary moving through the Northern Plains. A weak frontal boundary will also be extending through the Pacific Northwest with a few showers in the region.
Day 4-7: The period will start with high pressure along the East Coast and a frontal boundary moving through the Great Lakes with the associated frontal boundary extending into the Gulf Coast region. High pressure will be over the Rockies along with another Low pressure system pushing in over the West Coast bringing more showers to the region. The middle of this period will have the frontal boundary along the East Coast with high pressure building in over the Plains and Midwest along with High pressure over the Southwest and another frontal boundary along the Pacific Northwest. The end of this period will have high pressure building in over the East Coast again along with a frontal boundary building over Southwest Colorado and a weak high pressure center along the West Coast.
Day 8-12: The period will start with high pressure along the East Coast and another frontal boundary extending from the Great Lakes into the Gulf Coast region bringing the area showers and even snow on the northwest side and some strong thunderstorms to the Gulf Coast region. A weak frontal boundary will move into the Pacific Northwest. The middle of the period will start with high pressure pushing off the East Coast and a warm front pushing into the region bringing showers to the Mid-Atlantic region. Along with that look for a 1000mb low over the Rockies which will impact the Eastern United States with showers and thunderstorms along with a moderate snow band to the Northern Plains. The end of this period we will have a significant low pressure system over the Great Lakes and this will have some severe weather along the southern boundary and showers on the Eastern Boundary and a significant snow event back over the Northern Plains and into the Western Great Lakes.
Day 13-15: The frontal boundary will move into the Northeast with plenty of moisture being available with showers along the I-95 larger cities and to the west expect to see some snow that might be heavy over some regions in the Western part of the Northeast. The frontal boundary will extend into the Gulf Coast bringing some moderate rains and possible severe weather to the region. A 1038mb high will build in over the Northern Plains. The period will end with another low pressure system coming out of Eastern Texas that will push up towards the East Coast as it crosses the Gulf Coast region.

Friday: Partly Cloudy and not so cold with a high near 45F, winds from the Southeast around 10-15mph as overnight lows fall to around 36F.
Saturday: Partly Cloudy and mild with a high near 54F, winds will be from the South around 2-7mph as overnight lows fall to around 37F.
Sunday: Partly Cloudy and very mild with a high near 55F, winds will be from the South around 12-17mph as overnight lows fall to around 42F.
Monday: Partly Cloudy and mild with a high near 55F, winds will be from the Northwest around 12-17mph as overnight lows fall to around 37F.
Tuesday: Partly Cloudy and cooler with a high near 45F, winds will be from the Southeast around 8-13mph as overnight lows fall to around 32F.

Answer: The best way to describe this is you first need to understand that an air mass forms in what is known as a very flat and uniform terrain such as the Ocean or the Canadian Flat lands. Secondly an air mass is made of uniform temperatures such as the following types: Frigid/ Cold /Warm. The next feature is an air mass is made up of moisture or dry air. As an example, if the air mass forms over water it is considered moist, and if it forms over land it is dry. More to follow on air masses later in another question.

Green Energy Weather Report for November 30:
Wave Energy: The frontal boundary moving across the Pacific Northwest will bring some moderate waves to the region.
Solar Energy: The best solar energy today will be found in the Northeast where high pressure will bring nice conditions and also back into the Southeast on the backside of the high pressure and the Southwest will be under high pressure making that region enjoy some great solar energy today.
Wind Energy: The storm system in the Pacific northwest will again bring some moderate winds to the region and also this will spread out into the Northern Rockies today. These areas will be supportive of great wind energy. A small area of moderate winds will also develop over the Dakotas today behind a weak cold front.
Hydro-Energy: The Pacific Northwest again today will see moderate amounts of rain and snows that will create great hydro energy producing conditions for the area. A small area of showers will develop along the Chicago area also today which could bring some hydro energy to the region.
November 30 Weather and Your Wallet (Gulfport MS):
Dining: A great day to enjoy lunch on the beach or at the park as the temps will be near 70F. If you are out this evening you might need a jacket as it will get a tad bit cooler.
Transportation: No issues across all the major roads today.
Shopping: A small jacket will be needed tonight if you plan on heading out shopping, otherwise the rest of the day will be very nice.
Electricity: Look for a small window of heating during the overnight hours around 0.5HDDs.
Agriculture: No major impacts so it should be a great day to do yard work or farm work.
Construction: A nice day to be working on those outdoor construction projects.
Outdoor Venues: A nice day in store for enjoying some time out on the beach or walking the bridge or just spending time in the park this afternoon. This evening you might need a jacket as temps will get a tad cooler.
