GoDaddy Introduces Mobile Support For Its Website Builder Tool

(Before It's News)

GoDaddy, the leader in domain registration and SSL certificate sales worldwide, is showing more signs of competitive acquisition as far as new markets are concerned. In a stellar move, the company has inducted website builder support (which existed long back – and is much marketed by the company) with mobile web integration and optimization options. The move, as stated would enable it to catapult about 700,000 websites which are already using its Website Builder Support, to become instantly become optimized for mobile web viewing.

GoDaddy has recently been in the news for formally entering the Indian Market and wresting its own space in the industry by appointing Rajiv Sodhi, former Microsoft India Director for SMB and Cloud business, as the lead for its expansions in India. The development was seen as an audacious move to push through (leveraging upon its vast experience in domain reseller services worldwide) and belittle the local domain resellers like BigRock, HostIndia.net and Net4India. These local resellers have been faring well so far, with Net4 India receiving good investment too.

This new development would enable people intending to make a web presence for their businesses, without much knowhow of HTML-CSS-Web Technologies, easily create good looking (with pre-customized content and template options) and well integrated websites, host them online and attract more customers for their businesses etc. The mobile integration allows the websites created to respond readily to traffic that is generated from mobile or handheld based browsers.

Allegedly, there has been a 350% rise in the traffic to websites hosted on GoDaddy through mobile browser over the last 2 years. Jason Rosenthal, President of Products & Technology at GoDaddy, stated that they contracted DudaMobile to help them build this mobile website optimization framework for GoDaddy users. Interesting, DudaMobile is the same company that is assisting Google in a similar drive called GoMo.

93% of the websites hosted online are not optimized for the mobile web, which renders a wide and massive opportunity for the new mobile website optimization tool of GoDaddy. GoDaddy has recently also set up a call center in Hyderabad, to cater to the customer support of its 120,000 odd consumer base in India. Rosenthal has affirmed that this step is in line with their greater strategy to maintain the authoritative grip on this market, along with a pragmatic outlook on where the web traffic is headed – hence this transitional move.

Last year, Google in association with HostGator.com had launched the ‘Get Your Business Online’ program which was aimed to push local businesses in India to host websites for their businesses online and therein attract more customers. It seemed to have lost steam, in spite of it being a one year free hosting and domain registration offer.
