Google Now Hits iOS Before a Majority of Android Devices

(Before It's News)

Slap in the face? Fragmentation strikes again? Yeah, you really hate to see something like this. Seems that Google has updated the Google Search app on iOS, to have most of the features and functions of Google Now. I guess it will not have the feature of “learning” your daily routines, but it will have the cards and super fast voice recognition technology. I can hear all of you that are still on ICS moan and groan at this.

So this is where the fragmentation strikes again. Obviously since Apple releases that same phone over and over again, they can quickly update those phones and all the apps that work with it. Android on the other hand, keeps moving up a peg in OS versions, leaving the majority of users on Gingerbread Android 2.3. Even as ICS starts filling up more space in the Android pie chart, those users still cannot access the Google Now app, unless they want a dumbed down version that just is not the same.

A little while back, we reported that Google updated the Mobile browser Google Search with Google Now functionality, so when I came across this link, I thought maybe it had something to do with that. I hit up 2 of my friends that have iPhone’s and they indeed confirmed that they now have a super responsive voice recognition Google Search that displays the information on little index cards. Oh, and they loved the fact that the voice sounded clear and not all robotic like SIRI.

It is indeed a slight slap to the face for anyone on ICS or below, but this is just what comes with being on the Android platform. There does not seem to be any solutions in the works for the fragmentation, so the only advice I could give you is to root your device. Let us know what you guys think.
