Kickstarter has become a launchpad for entrepreneurs to test ideas, and in some cases, without over-extending themselves with a big outlay of capital. There are some rather lackluster projects, but there are also some pretty intriguing looking ideas. If you haven’t heard of it yet, check out these combinable controllers from Combiform. What’s unique about these controllers is that they encourage players to work together with the combination of controllers.
The controllers feature a joystick, programmable buttons, LED lights and a rotating handle that suits various modes of game play. Incorporating magnets, Combiform allows players to physically combine their controllers during game play; the block design allows players to combine and detach easily during game play.
Aside from console gaming, Combiform controllers offer Bluetooth connectivity for use with iOS and Android devices, Macs or PC’s. Combiform says that their controllers can be used with Blocky, Combiner, Blow-It Up and Switch, or with other traditional games. Offering further appeal to developers, Combiform operates as an open-sourced platform, allowing users to create their own games and applications.
If you’re interested, there are two Early Bird Specials available – for $54 or more, the first 499 contributors will receive two controllers, two games and access to the SDK library. The $92+ level is available to the first 299 contributors and they’ll each receive four controllers, three games of their choice and, of course, access to the SDK library. Other contributor levels include:
Currently, Combiform controllers are slated to ship beginning in July 2013. Stay tuned for more information!
