(Before It's News)

Ekalavya is responsible for growing the digital footprint of MTV. Content creation and distribution for the digital space (Web + Mobile), marketing innovation on Social platforms are the key areas of work. His job entails creation of customized content along with marketing innovations for the digital native, taking full advantage of the time the audience spends on the net, while making a full effort to immerse the viewer in the MTV experience. All this while retaining emphasis on revenue maximization and optimal production.

Ekalavya Bhattacharya

Head of Digital, MTV India

Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.  According to Ekalavya most brands running a campaign and sticking to limited content on their accounts have never heard of “Content is King.”

Prior to this he was heading Digital Content – i.e. the Creative & Product team at Viacom 18 Digital (For all web properties of MTV, Vh1, Nick, Sonic, Comedy Central etc). This includes producing original digital content, integrated digital properties and also interactive solutions for clients on the Viacom 18 digital platform.

Eklavya tells us about the 5 Trends to watch out for in 2013:

  • Huge influx of Mobile Apps. But I don’t see many working. Most of the branded apps will be campaign led and such apps can’t really make a difference, apart from the agency winning some random award, etc. Gaming will continue to be the biggest revenue generator in the mobile space.
  • Mobile eCommerce,  a one click COD order on mobile is a great proposition. I hope some FMCG brand starts using this space smartly. Pinterest is sure to introduce some sort of an eCommerce model too. Location is going to play a huge role in Mobile eCommerce.
  • Original Digital Content investment will continue. Brands will realise that Facebook pages with millions of fans are pretty pointless. They’ll start investing more and more in video (interactive) content. Probably we’ll see more shows like Nano Drive with MTV.
  • The web will be used heavily for political campaigns. Especially since we’ll lead up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Suddenly every politician will have a website, be on twitter, have his election manifesto up on Youtube etc. Nice time for an agency to specifically set up a wing to handle such pitches and campaigns.
  • Responsive Design will become popular in India. More sites like – http://www.yellowpages.co.in/. People will become conscious of the devices that people are using to view their website.
