Hardkernel has just revealed a pair of quad-core developer boards it calls the Exynos ODROID-U and according to them, the cost starts from sixty nine dollars. Technology has made miniaturization something that has made devices to become even more powerful than previously thought. products like the Raspberry Pi, Intel’s NUC easily come to mind when it comes to the use of technology to create smaller but amazingly powerful systems. Hardkernel has joined the list of companies in the fore front of miniaturization as they announce the introduction of their product into the market; the ODROID-U board. This board is a bit more expensive than most and this is because it comes with added punch in terms of what it can do.
The ODROID-U has a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor. This is the same as found the Galaxy S III and Note II. it has 1GB of RAM, quad-core Mali 400 graphics, micro-HDMI, a brace of USB ports, a headphone jack and Ethernet. The price is $69 but for $89, you can get an amplified board of the ODROID-U2 version that has a 1.7GHz quad-core and 2GB of RAM.
The only thing missing is an onboard storage but it does have a built-in microSD slot which you can use to slot in your own flash memory. Ideally, the board can run both Android and a variety of Linux based operating systems. Reports have it that the U2 version will be the first out in the market as it is set to be released by the 21st of December while the cheaper version will be released on the 16th of January.
