2012′s CES was a big stage for Nokia. At that point, the Lumia 800 and 900 were all the rage. The company was just beginning their big Windows Phone push in the market. CES was the happenin’ place. Fast forward just a single year, though, and things are quite different. It appears that critics of the world’s largest electronics trade show might have something with the claim “CES is loosing its luster”. In 2013, Nokia is out.
WPDang is reporting that Nokia has cancelled their CES plans and has re-focused all their efforts at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February. A quick glance at the latest version of the CES 2013 Exhibitor Directory seems to back up the claim, with no major Nokia booth listed.
Call it cold feet with CES. Call it better planning in regards to product announcement vs. actual product launch. Either way, Nokia fans hoping to get some one-on-one time at CES will have to find some other way to tickle their fancy.
