Route1 MobiKEY: Access Your Computer Remotely and Securely With This USB Gadget

(Before It's News)

Over the weekend I tried out Route1 MobiKEY a USB dongle, which enables you to access your computer’s desktop on a remote computer.

What’s nice about MobiKEY is that it’s not just software, but also something you HAVE (the USB key) and something you KNOW (a password).

Maybe you’re in a foreign country, or in a public setting or any other place where you really want to ensure you are secure. If the computer you are using has been hacked, has insecure software or has a key logger (a gadget that captures keystrokes) then anything you do on that computer is compromised.

With Route1 MobiKEY small enterprises, that have remote staff, will also be able to manage lost computers or unauthorized access to corporate resources.

From Route1′s web site

Completely clientless and driverless, MC2 ensures that the user leaves no trace or evidence of their computing session on the Guest computer, while protecting the enterprise network from any viruses, malware and even software keyboard loggers. All enterprise files stay within the enterprise firewalls, simplifying security policy enforcement.

Many of us use remote file solutions such as Dropbox, LogMeIn, PC Anywhere, TeamViewer, Egnyte and GoToPC. This solution appears to be for those who might want even MORE security and management options.

Cost $300 a year and $100 for the device itself.
