On the go and can’t use your hands to access a calculator? Don’t have time to unlock your iPhone and open up the calculator app? No worries, Siri can handle that. Siri can act as a calculator with the added benefit of being completely hands free. If you want Siri to calculate equations simply provide Siri with the numbers and the proper function (add, subtract, multiply, divide) that you wish her to compute. Siri will then offer out the answer with a complete number line.
The easiest calculations for Siri are:
-Number + number (ex: 5+5)
-Number / number (ex: 10/2)
-Number X number (ex: 3X3)
-Number – number (ex: 12-5)
For the most effective results say the equation out loud to Siri just as it reads. Siri will repeat the answers slightly differently depending upon the equation users provide.
For addition and subtraction Siri will reply with a simple easy to follow answer line showing how she got to the sum.
For multiplication Siri will reply with the answer and a number line that shows any potential exponents.
For division, Siri will reply with the answer, reducing the fraction, the number as a decimal, and show a mixed fraction. You will have the option of which form you prefer.
In addition to Siri being used as a calculator, Siri can be utilized as a tip calculator as well. Although Siri can handle difficult and complex equations, occasionally Siri may not follow the proper order of operations. To ensure complete accuracy, users may want to use an actual calculator for complex equations with multiple steps.
