Barry McGee’s monumental mural
What do you get when you cross an eccentric street artist, a traditional car manufacturer, and a trendy publication? You get extravagant, larger-than-life, mind-blowing art, of course.
Commissioned by Cadillac and Vanity Fair, renowned street artist Barry McGee produced a whopping 96 x 67 foot mural at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn, New York. This bold addition to Cadillac’s “Art in the Streets” — only the second in what has become a series of yearly endeavors — incorporates vibrant colors, mosaic patterns, and a nod to some of McGee’s better known aliases (the artist has plenty, including Twist, Twisto, Pimple, and just about anything with the surname Fong).
After graduating in 1991 from the San Francisco Art Institute with a focus on painting and printmaking, McGee’s signature street art began popping up in the Bay Area. Today, his distinctive and slightly retro style has found its place in numerous exhibitions—and now, on a giant community wall.
