Moving from Android device to Android device or iOS device to iOS device is ridiculously easy. Moving between Android to iOS or vice versa, however, isn’t the most seamless experience. Sure, some basic things like email, contacts and calendars can make the jump, as well as some data stored on third party cloud storage services. But more often than not, there’s a hiccup or two in the move. That’s why HTC is making some big improvements to their HTC Sync Manager app.
A new Sync Manager update scheduled to drop in the near future will actually be able to read through iOS backup files and pull out information such as photos, videos, calendar entries and text messages.
We’d assume that HTC will launch the new Sync Manager alongside their new flagship HTC One phone next month. On that same note, we’re curious how long HTC thinks this new functionality will last. Palm infamously battled Apple over early Pre devices which natively synced with iTunes via spoofing USB identities. Whether or not HTC is using some similar, less than “normal” method remains to be seen. But if we had to place bets, we’d bet that Apple doesn’t let this fly for very long. But if they do, kudos to HTC for making it easier to enter their ecosystem.
