India’s leading telecom service provider Bharti Airtel, in association with online marketplace facilitator Shopify, has offered an interesting bouquet of services to its SME clients.
Neatly combining its own prowess in the networking and cloud storage segment, Airtel has roped in the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) e-commerce solution, developed by Shopify, to offer a holistic, all inclusive e–Commerce platform to its own Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) clients. The service is expected to enable the company’s customers to create and launch their own e-commerce sites.
What is Airtel offering?
In the simplest of explanations, Shopify creates an opportunity for merchants and physical shop owners, to launch their own miniature virtual store–front. These digital storefronts are hosted on Shopify’s network. Besides offering a virtual space, the company also provides ancillary services essential to sales & marketing including search engine marketing, social network integration, inventory management, email marketing capabilities and payment processing.
It is interesting to note that Shopify has traditionally exhibited its preference majorly towards telecom companies to have synergy with. When it decided to expand its scope to the Asian countries, it had tied up with Singapore’s Telecommunications player Singtel. But in this case, Airtel seems more inclined as its own customers stand to gain.
Airtel will offer this end-to-end e-Commerce platform for as low as Rs. 818 Per Month. Furthermore the company is offering more than 100 ready-to-use templates. Major payment gateways have already been tied-up with. Apart from this, Airtel’s SME customers can avail the proactive business marketing assistance offered by Shopify.
The potential for such a tie-up is certainly huge. With Airtel’s vast customer base, the company can easily engage in large-scale promotional campaigns via its own channels. On the other hand, Shopify will gain Cloud Technology support, as well as fresh customers. What do you think?
