(Before It's News)

Google has decided to lower its cloud computing royalties as the tech giant is taking on the emerging dark horse in cloud computing regime, Amazon. IBM and Microsoft will also be on the radar. Google launched its Drive cloud storage service around 18 months ago, but has never had a robust all-in solution for website owners, where amazon and IBM trump the tech-giant. Google’s Cloud Platform is aimed squarely at Microsoft’s Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Rackspace, GoDaddy and others that underpin a large portion of the web and with cut prices and Google-reliability, it could really put together a good show.

The next gen computing has moved off from the traditional programs and windows and dialogue boxes. It has transcended into the cloud and the app platform. Almost every tech giant that recognizes itself with the silicon valley has adopted cloud computing, in one form or the another. Bigwigs like IBM, Netapp, Intel and Google are battling it out to prove that theirs is the best cloud platform. Amazon took in around 35 percent of the $1.2 billion spent globally on public IaaS in the fourth quarter of 2012, and IBM came in a distant second with 5 percent, according to Synergy Research Group. As a result, IBM is now gearing up for war to throw out Amazon from its territory.

First, the fact that Amazon does not have a long history in enterprise IT is precisely why it’s the preferred public cloud solution. Amazon compute servers are a good source of going online with a website without having to manage a server. The total cloud computing market hit $2.5 billion in revenue in Q3, up 46% the same quarter of 2012, Synergy corp found. Amazon grew cloud revenues by over $700 million and that makes Amazon bigger than all the other major players combined including Microsoft, IBM, Google and Salesforce.com.
