Videogame products e-tailer Game4u has kick started operations in the global market with Singapore and Malaysia. The company which is a part of Milestone Interactive Group, said that foraying into the Southeast Asia market is a strategic move towards becoming a leading global online retailer of videogames.
“PC gaming is popular in South-East Asia and we have taken a big step towards achieving our vision by being the first Indian gaming e-retailer to set a digital download store in the region,” said Milestone Interactive Group chairman and CEO Jayont R Sharma.
Game4u will provide more than 700 PC and MAC games from over 30 renowned publishers such as Aspyr Media, Deep Silver, Electronic Arts, Focus Home Interactive, Kalypso Media, Namco Bandai Games, Square-Enix, Take2 Interactive, Warner Bros and many more via its download-to-own service to consumers in both the countries.
Sharma further added that the company plans to continue adding features and product categories along with introducing their coveted loyalty program – Team Elite, to gamers in Singapore and Malaysia soon. According to the report, the gaming industry in Asia Pacific is pegged to be $18 billion as per Euromonitor. The Indian Media and Entertainment Industry Report 2013 estimated that the games industry in India will grow at a 22% CAGR to reach Rs 42 billion ($776m) by 2017.
Game4u expects to grow in excess of 100 per cent year on year with a double digit market share within the next 3 quarters leading to a revenues in excess of $4Mn (USD) over the next three years. The company whose key markets are Singapore and Malaysia also plans to expand in the region within the year and aims to set up operations in countries such as Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Via its download-to-own service for consumers in both the countries, the company expects gamers to log onto the Game4u website to purchase games in their local currency easily, thus making it Quick to Play. Indian gaming has soared in recent years with midnight launches and local PS3 game production.
