Coursera, one of the first and significant companies to have pioneered the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), has announced the launch of its Android app. This comes three months after the service launched an iOS app.
Users can now take classes and do assignments straight from their mobiles and tablets. Before this, users had to take recourse to their laptops and that would undoubtedly mean that you would have to allocate time. These days, we are busier and it would help quite a bit to complete these courses when you find time on the go.
The apps now lets you access all of Coursera’s courses across many disciplines. You can watch the video lectures, submit assignments, save videos offline etc. The app also has support for 12 languages such as Chinese, Russian, Spanish and so on. This is because a large amount Coursera’s user base comes from other countries, even though the courses primarily originate from US universities.
Online education or MOOCs do have to potential help more people access education across the world. There have been arguments about how MOOCs do not actually replicate traditional education. With the proliferation of the internet across the world, it just makes sense to use it to educate yourself. Many users who are on Coursera are those who have already done college and are looking to educate themselves in some other fields of their interest. In this scenario, MOOCs offer the best self-serve platform for one to go ahead and develop their skills.
If you are on Coursera, you will find their mobile app useful. Download it from the link below.
