The big Black Friday sale is in full swing for retail giant Amazon, but the shopping experience has turned up to be sour for many of its customers over the past few days who have received an unwelcome gift. It is reported the account passwords have been compromised.

If believed to a report on ZDNet, some of the Amazon customers were informed their account passwords may have been compromised as those may have been transmitted or stored insecurely, and potentially allowing online hackers to intercept the data.

In a released email statement Amazon has confirmed the problems have been corrected and further exposure has been prevented.

Amazon has lately urged its members to reset the passwords for a precaution without giving further details.

It is also said the password resets to be a routine security measures and same password is not to be used on other sites. The password should be changed regularly on such websites.

Meanwhile, the retail giant is currently getting ready to enter the busiest time of the year with the kick off of the holiday season.
