Amit Shah Postpones Kolkata Utthan Divas Public Meeting By A Month After Bihar Polls Debacle

The electoral debacle of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar seems to be effecting the West Bengal assembly polls campaign of the party.
BJP president Amit Shah has postponed the public meeting in Kolkata that was supposed to be held on November 30 titled as Utthan Divas. It is reported he will be addressing the people in late December followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2016 along with other important party members including Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh.
Even though the national leadership said such postponing decision was taken before the poll results of Bihar, but if believed to the sources the leaders wanted bickering within BJP to subside before kicking off the election campaigns in West Bengal. It is also said the party is looking ahead to buy more time before getting into the poll mode.
Sources added Amit Shah will be addressing one rally in Kolkata and one in Siliguri. Prime Minister Modi, and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley will hold several rallies in the eastern state.
However, ahead of Shah’s visit to Kolkata, the BJP observer for West Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya, is said to be holding a rally in West Midnapore to test the waters. On November 30 the state leaders of BJP will be organizing several rallies across the state. Also, in early December the party is said to be launching a “Jail Bharo Andolan” to protest against deteriorating law and order in the state and the Saradha scam.
