With so many cool things coming out each week, it can be hard to wade through all the rock-awesomeness. With ‘Cool Tools’, we’ve done the hard work for you.
This week we saw everything from an updated take on the modern survival kit, a new app for turning your spare iPad into a second display, how to create the “Sugar Spoon of Death”, the return of Crystal Pepsi, and more…
Ready? Let’s go!
This week we look at:
DESIGN
“Jackfish is an indestructible super slim card holder containing essential everyday tools…”
“An updated take on the BMW R-Series from the Austrian custom motorcycle workshop…”
APPS
“Duet is the first app that allows you to use your iDevice as an extra display for your Mac using the Lightning or 30-pin cable…”
“Today, we’re excited to offer a new virtual reality Flickr app (Flickr VR) for compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones that allows you to dive into the 360° photo experience via Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus…”
DIY
“I had this spoon that I was going to throw out anyways because one of the edges got nicked by the garbage disposal. I decided to give it a second life instead…”
“Succulents are great low maintenance, indoor plants that can be used to add life to any room. This DIY planter looks great as a centerpiece on a table or can be wall mounted with a couple of L-brackets. I made the planter from a short piece of a 4×4 post by drilling 2” diameter holes 2.5” deep and coating it with Minwax Polycrylic to make it waterproof. I created a simple one with three holes for plants first and then tried a really cool series of faceted planters with asymmetrical holes for the plants. Five or six of these planters could be made out of a single 8 foot long 4×4, which makes this an excellent option for DIY gifting. ..”
ROCK AWESOMENESS
Skiing with No Snow (Candide Thovex)
“Candide Thovex doesn’t wait for winter…”
“The dedicated employees of the 92nd Floor never shut down back in the nineties. 23 years later, they’ve finally perfected Crystal Pepsi. And they’re ready to share it with the world…”
And there you have it!
