Karim Rashid Wants to Solve Cord Tangling and Mobile Power Once and For All with ‘Bump’
According to acclaimed industrial designer and recording artist Karim Rashid, 3.5 days of your life are spent untangling cords. Together with industrial designers Richard Smiedt and Phil King, the designer is preparing to launch what he thinks is the ideal solution for device charging and cord management in the form of ‘Bump’.
Consisting of a combination wall charger/power bank, cables and silicone cable holder, the Bump aims to be an all-in-one solution for charging mobile devices at home and on-the-go. The charger is also the first of what the trio hopes will be many products under their new startup Push & Shove; a company that aims to marry (better) form and function with today’s mobile devices. Previously, the trio found success with the Bobble water bottle – a runaway success that further underlined the disruptive power of rethinking the experience of simple consumer products.
Says the team:
“Tech accessories are pure function – there is no emphasis on beauty, on aesthetic, on design. And there is no reason this is so.”
The device, which supports both Lightning and Micro USB connections and provides approximately 1-2 additional phone charges via the 3400mAh power bank, goes on sale in May, but can be preordered today for $65.
