(Before It's News)

A short review of the book: Collision Course A novel of Survival by David Crawford. New American Library, a div. of Penguin Group. 340 pages. Submitted for your consideration by Thomas T. Tinker.

Most of you know the author of this work. Mr. Crawford gave us “Lights Out” which is in independent production as a full length film. What Hollywood may do to that book to screen play work is any ones guess. If the promo distribution photos are any indicator…. “ Lights Out” may go straight to top video if it makes it to the can.

Yes I have tainted the waters with that opinion. Mr. Crawford may have no control over what Hollywood does to his first book “Lights Out” however his second “Collision Course” is quite a change in its self. Our main characters begin the story as polar opposite personalities… i.e. good vs. not so. DJ Frost starts out this work as a squared away prepper with a plan vs. Gabriel Horne enters our story as the town drunk and grumpy old man.

The course of this work begins to quickly reverse the rolls of these two though they do not meet until the very end of this book. Crawford uses these two to run the reader in and out of all the common prepper / survivalist perceptions of TEOTWAWKI. (social-economic plot line)

Gabe Horne you begin to root for early on. DJ’s true nature shows itself just as early as the first female trots in and out of the plot. From then on, anything that smells better than DJ is at risk. If Crawford’s intent was to create an un-sympathetic character development…… it works. I’d like to go on….. but there is very little to… go with. “Collision course” is aptly titled and that is the best part of the book. Plot lines are a sure and transparent as a sunrise once you read the trends in the first 20 pages. On the whole this work is a ‘entertaining’ as a Hallmark production only the ending is as tragic as anything the Greeks and the Bard of Avon could cook up.

Buy it if you must. Do not put in the stack of phone books cause its’ to rough a paper to use on delicate tissue.

Humbly, and with clear bias, I submit this to the Pack. As ever should you have questions, comments, suggestions as to where to put my opinion…. Or a simple death threat…. Well by golly pony up Packers. I’ll be here to answer any you may have.
