(N.Morgan) I don’t think many people realize how much information can be obtained from their trash. One person who spoke to a retired police officer, was told by that officer, he could know every thing about one’s life, simply by going through their garbage. The best defense against this is to get rid of your trash, by shredding it. This can also protect you from stalkers. Believe me, stalkers can be real pesky buggers that tend to never really go away and if there’s any way for them to obtain any personal data about you, they are not above dumpster diving to get it.
envelopes from any investments, banks, credit cards, medical, insurance, anything that can link to you to company, financial institution or service provider!
your friend’s/family’s name and addresses (return address on envelopes) invoices or receipts for things you’ve ordered online or purchased locally (cash purchases too). No one should know what you’ve been buying or stocking up on! Ever.
Random stuff, to muddy the mix, of contents. I shred random stuff that I print out, and random junk mail just to make it harder to figure out what is what.
The shreddings can be burned in a big, metal garbage can or BBQ pit. Whatever you do, leave nothing to find.
