(Before It's News)

This article is taken from Five Gallon Ideas, which features over 100 uses for 5 gallon buckets with more being added all the time.

After showing you how to feed pigs and deer earlier, today we’re going to show you how to use a five gallon bucket to feed chickens!  Jimmywait on the backyard chickens forum made a great guide that showcases how to make a chicken feeder, we took his idea and improved further upon it.

Required Materials

-One five gallon bucket (link)

-One piece of 3″ pvc elbow (link)

-A saw

-A sillicone kit or pvc cement (link)

I’ll assume you already have a saw, but the rest of the required equipment may be useful to buy in one go at Amazon, to cut down on delivery costs.

Step 1: Cut the PVC elbow at the red line, as shown here above.

Step 2: Make a round hole in the bucket one inch off the bottom, using a knife or a saw, where the PVC will fit into the bucket.

Step 3: The PVC pipe should now be attached inside the bucket, with the angle pointing downwards. The piece you cut off, should be attached on the opposite side, as shown in the image above step 2.

Step 4: If you think one PVC pipe is not sufficient for your chickens, you may want to add more PVC pipes.

Step 5: When the PVC cement dries, your chicken feeder should be ready for you to use.

The final result should look as following:
