Left of Rupes Altai (border” to the left of images) (images are seen overturned through the telescope), there are many characteristics of all sizes, observable much better in these pictures, due to the lighting of the Moon at that time when it was only 5 days being lit 29%.

Rothmann (42 km) and Lindenau (53 km) are just a few of the many craters found in this bombarded region in the past, with multilple strong impacts. You need to be guided by the photo below to understand where these craters are.
Notice that each crater has a special feature. Rabbi Levi crater (81 km), shows in the inside a chain of small craters called Rabbi Levi A, L, M, and D, while the crater Rothmann, which is 42 km, is less larger than its satellite crater Rothmann G, which is 92 km.

Gemma Frisius craters (88 km), (except for A, B, and C) and Maurolycus (114 km), were in the shade at that time.
What’s interesting about this region if you notice craters closely, is that there are no craters with central peaks on their floor as the other regions from the Moon. Piccolomini only has a central mountain, if you notice in the picture taken on February 27, 2012 below.
