NASA on Saturday (June 27) opened “Forever Remembered,” a new exhibit honoring the 14 men and women who died onboard space shuttles Challenger and Columbia in 1986 and 2003. The display includes artifacts recovered from the orbiters’ wreckages, a first for any public memorial. Part of the Atlantis facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, the gallery also features personal mementos from each of the fallen astronauts, provided by their family members.
