What’s the black material marked with red lines?

NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity used her Hand Lens Imager to acquire this image on Aug. 4, 2015 (Sol 1064) at Buckskin near Marias Pass in Gale Crater, Mars. One pixel in this image is about 20 micrometers across. What’s the black material marked with red lines? I think I saw remains of a blood vessel, a red blood cell and four nerve cells, all clearly visible in this size:
