With Jason Kipnis going to the DL, Yandy Diaz should get extra at bats for the Cleveland Indians. Meanwhile in Texas, Joey Gallo figures to benefit from Adrian Beltre’s stint on the shelf.
.
Diaz is hitting .250 through three games and 12 at bats. He has a double and three RBI to go along with three strikeouts. Last year he hit .286 with two home runs in 84 at bats for Double-A Akron and .325 with seven home runs and 44 RBI in 360 at bats for Triple-A Columbus. Diaz is only suited for large fantasy leagues as a bench player or spot player.
.
Gallo is off to a slow start hitting .200 with seven strikeout in 10 at bats. He does have a home run and two RBI. His average of .200 this year has actually helped raise his lifetime average to .175. He is significantly better against right-handed pitching (.727 OPS compared to .472 against Southpaws), but he has still hit sub-.200 against them. Gallo has a career average of .224 at the Triple-A level. He’s only suggested to use in a spot start when your batting average category is not up for grabs.
