(Before It's News)

According to Charles Davis of Fox Sports, Washington cornerback Kevin King is set to visit several teams this week, including your Baltimore Ravens.

King has opened eyes on the pre-draft circuit after his terrific combine performance. The rangy 6’3’’ former safety answered any athletic questions teams may have had when he ran a 4.43 forty-yard dash, then posted a 39.5-inch vertical and 6.56 3-cone drill.

King has the length and athleticism the Ravens covet at the cornerback position. From a playing-style perspective, King would also bring a different element to the unit. The Ravens have dramatically improved the secondary in the offseason, adding safety Tony Jefferson and cornerback Brandon Carr, but nobody they’ve added brings the ball skills and aggressiveness at the catch point that King does. It is paramount the Ravens start to get turnovers from the cornerback position again in order to ascend back into contention.

Where this gets potentially problematic for the Ravens is where they would have to draft King. He’s risen to the point where many feel like he’ll now go in the first round. The team’s 2nd round pick, 47th overall, feels like the absolute floor for the Washington product. That’s a steep price to pay when you could contend that edge rusher, right tackle, center and wide receiver have all leapfrogged cornerback on the Ravens’ priority list. With so many additional holes to fill, can they afford to take a corner that high?

Maybe, but as we Ravens fans have learned over the years, Ozzie Newsome, Eric DeCosta, and company stick to their board. If they deem King the best player available, they’ll take him. They’ll trade down in later rounds to stockpile picks to throw at weaknesses.

Expect the Ravens to add a cornerback at some point in the first four rounds. That cornerback could very well could be Kevin King.
